Base to Gantry

The motor, bearings and lead-screw for the y-axis have been attached to the base along with a simple lead-screw nut assembly which attaches to the gantry base (fashioned from a drawer front salvaged from my old kitchen). Though simple in construction, creating the nut assembly was a bit tricky as the placement of the nut needs to be mounted accurately in some kind of material.

I ended up attaching the nut via a piece of wood (again from the kitchen rip out) to the underside of the gantry base via long bolts threaded through a oval hole for finer adjustment if needed. The drill marks for the hole to accommodate the lead-screw nut was made by sliding the gantry up against the bearing that held a pen wide enough in diameter to sit in the bearing allowing it to be marked accurately.
